Drilling Bore Wells in Villages

Clean Water is the Gift of Life

Water statistics

Along with poverty, the unavailability of fresh drinking water is an urgent need for one in every six people. The World Health Organization estimates that 80% of the world's diseases stem from impure drinking water and food.

More than 1.8 million children under the age of five die each year from illness associated with contaminated drinking water. Primary diseases contracted from unclean drinking water include cholera, diarrhea, typhoid, roundworm, hepatitis and dysentery.

It is estimated that over 80% of India's population does not have access to clean drinking water. Indians regularly drink water from lakes, ponds and rivers. This is the same water used for bathing, laundry and watering cattle.

CLEAN WATER SAVES LIVES !

Lack of clean drinking water is a major problem in developing countries, India is one of them.

Grace Children Ministries Water Program provides safe drinking water to the families living in rural and urban villages in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. This reality is especially true for rural villages. In Andhra Pradesh, a mostly rural Indian state, there are over 3,000 villages without a water source! Rural Indian women spend an average of four hours a day collecting and purifying drinking water. According to The World Health Organization, India's water shortage is expected to worsen in the coming years.

Grace Children Ministries has established a goal of digging / drilling 10 wells per year for the poor villages in the state of Andhra Pradesh. These wells have to be close to 300 - 400 feet deep to get the clean and fresh water out of the ground. Each time a villager draws clean drinking water they encounter these words in their language, "Touching the world with the love of Jesus." The gift of a fresh-water well is truly a gift that keeps on giving.

Help Provide Clean Water in Poor Villages.

You, your church, or small group can impact the lives of these thirsty people in India through sponsoring the drilling of a water well. The cost is approximately $1,500.00 to $2,000.00 USD depending on how deep we have to dig. This well will provide a daily supply of clean drinking water to an average of 300-500 people.
